6 ways you can keep your ecommerce website fresh

Keep your website clean

If you have content that is changed on a weekly or monthly basis then make sure it is taken down as soon as it needs to be. Any promotional content or seasonal offers you may have on your website should be cleaned up to make sure you are up to date. It is also useful to make sure you aren’t missing any images, as well as to check that you no long have any out of stock products still for sale. A customer isn’t going to hang around long if your promotions are out of date and your website is messy, so make sure you have a tidy website that your customers will enjoy.

Responsive website

Having a responsive layout is an essential part of keeping your website fresh, with so many people now shopping online it is vital that you have a website that is viewable on every form of media. Having a website that can be viewed on a mobile, tablet and desktop device is ket and in this age if you don’t have a responsive layout you may as well not have a website.

Updatable home page

Having an updatable home page is an important factor in keeping your website fresh, if a home page looks the same constantly for months on end, then it can get boring for customers. This can also affect your business as it looks like nothing is happening within the company, why would people want to buy from a company where nothing is happening? Customers want to buy from a website that is modern, offers regular promotions and updates their content, make sure your website offers this.

Unique blog content

If you feature a blog on your website then it makes sense to update it with fresh content regularly. Your blog is a great way to post news about your company, promote a new product line or voice an opinion on a subject. Don’t write generic content, make it personal and unique to you and your brand, it doesn’t matter whether you update your blog daily or weekly, just keep it regular and keep it fresh.

Watch for your competitors

By keeping an eye on your competitors it allows you to see what promotions they have on and what their pricing is. This allows you to keep up to date on what prices your own products are and allows you to work out your own pricing strategy. You should also watch how your competitors website looks, has it had a redesign? Does it have anything your doesn’t? There’s nothing wrong with a bit of friendly competition and it never hurts to know what you’re up against.

Keep up to date with design trends

Keeping up with web design trends allows you to update or modernise your website along with current trends, this is a great way of staying ahead of the crowd and can make your website look great. Think about it, you have a trendy modern website and your competitor is there still using flash, customers are definitely going to choose one over the other, and it probably won’t be your competitors.
